HEALTH & SAFETY INFORMATION
• IDLH:
2000
ppm
•
Poisonous when inhaled. Breathing concentrations approaching 10% in air will
cause anesthesia, dizziness, drowsiness; higher levels can cause cardiac
arrythmia and asphyxiation. Rapid evaporation of the liquid may cause
frostbite. Longterm exposure may cause dermatitis; heart, liver, and other organ
changes.
Exposure Limits:
•
ACGIH TLV: 1000 ppm, ceiling limit, not classifiable as a human carcinogen as
trichloromonofluoromethane
•
OSHA PEL: 1000 ppm/5600 mg/m3 TWA
•
NIOSH REL: 1000 ppm/5600 mg/m3 ceiling limit
•
DFG MAK: 1000 ppm/5700 mg/m3 as trichloromonofluoromethane
Respirator:
2000
ppm:
SA (any supplied-air
respirator) SCBAF (any self-contained breathing apparatus with a full
facepiece).
Emergency
or Planned Entry into Unknown Concentrations or IDLH Conditions
SCBAF:PD,PP (any self-contained breathing
apparatus that has a full facepiece and is operated in a pressure-demand or
other positivepressure mode) SAF:PD,PP:ASCBA (any suppliedair respirator that
has a full facepiece and is operated in a pressure-demand or other
positive-pressure mode in combination with an auxiliary self-contained
breathing apparatus operated in a pressure-demand or other positive-pressure
mode).
Escape:
GMFOV
[any airpurifying, full-facepiece respirator (gas mask) with a chin-style,
front- or back-mounted organic vapor canister] SCBAE (any appropriate
escape-type, selfcontained breathing apparatus).
Reactivity:
Reacts,
possibly violently, with chemically active metals such as sodium, potassium, calcium,
magnesium, zinc, alkali amides, powdered aluminum, granular barium, and lithium
shavings. Heat causes decomposition and formation of toxic gas.
FIRE INFORMATION:
Noncombustible liquid; nonflammable gas.
FIRST AID:
Move
victim to fresh air. Call emergency medical care. Apply artificial respiration
if victim is not breathing. Administer oxygen if breathing is difficult. In
case of contact with substance, immediately flush skin or eyes with running
water for at least 20 minutes. Flush affected areas with plenty of lukewarm
water.
Do not use
hot water.
Remove and
isolate contaminated clothing and shoes. Ensure that medical personnel are
aware of the material(s) involved, and take precautions to protect themselves.
