HEALTH & SAFETY INFORMATION

• IDLH: 3300 ppm [10% LEL]

• Odor threshold: 96–220.8 mg/m3

• OSHA Table Z-1 Air Contaminant

• The anhydrous material irritates the eyes. Inhalation of high concentration of vapor may cause irritation of the eyes and respiratory tract and depressing the central nervous system. The anhydrous liquid defats the skin. Chronic exposure affects the upper respiratory tract, central nervous system, resulting in irritation, headache, fatigue, and lack of concentration.

Exposure Limits:

• ACGIH TLV: 1000 ppm/1,880 mg/m3 TWA, not classifiable as a human carcinogen

• OSHA PEL/NIOSH REL: 1000 ppm/1,900 mg/m3 TWA

• DFG MAK: 500 ppm/960 mg/m3 Category 5, contains carcinogens of weak potentecy.

Respirator: 3300 ppm : SA (any supplied-air respirator) SCBAF (any self-contained breathing apparatus with a full facepiece). Emergency or Planned Entry into Unknown Concentrations or IDLH Conditions SCBAF:PD,PP (any self-contained breathing apparatus that has a full facepiece and is operated in a pressure-demand or other positivepressure mode) SAF:PD,PP:ASCBA (any suppliedair respirator that has a full facepiece and is operated in a pressure-demand or other positive-pressure mode in combination with an auxiliary self-contained breathing apparatus operated in a pressure-demand or other positive–pressure mode).

Escape: SCBAE (any appropriate escape-type, self-contained breathing apparatus).

Reactivity: Forms explosive mixture with air. May accumulate static electrical charges, and may cause ignition of its vapors. Reactions may be violent with oleum, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, bases, aliphatic amines, isocyanates, oxidizers.

FIRE INFORMATION: Vapors may travel long distances to ignition sources and flash back. Vapors in confined areas or containers may explode in fire. If material or contaminated runoff enters waterways, notify downstream users of potentially contaminated water.

Hazard Classifications:

Health Hazard (Blue) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 0

Flammability (Red) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  3

Reactivity (Yellow) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 0

Flash Point: 64°F (18°C) (oc); 55°F (13°C) (cc)

Flammable Limits in Air: LEL 3.3%; UEL 19%

Autoignition Temperature: 689°F (365°C)

FIRST AID: Move victim to fresh air. Call emergency medical care. Apply artificial respiration if victim is not breathing. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Remove and isolate contaminated clothing and shoes. In case of contact with substance, immediately flush skin or eyes with running water for at least 20 minutes. Wash skin with soap and water. Keep victim warm and quiet. Ensure that medical personnel are aware of the material(s) involved, and take precautions to protect themselves.
